Hastings, NY -- The floating dock in the town of Hastings on the north side of the Oneida River near the Waterfront Tavern that had been out of commission after being hit by a boat a couple of weeks ago is open again for public use.
The dock can be accessed from East River Road.
The state Canal Corp. put a floating dock next to the Fort Brewerton Pier after part of the pier collapsed into the river May 8. A boat ran into the floating dock May 14.
The pier — which lost a 165-foot chunk to the river — closed last summer when the state deemed it unsafe. The $3.1 million it will take to rebuild the pier is in the Canal Corp.’s capital plan. Barring other emergency work on the canal system taking precedence, the project could begin in 2012, officials said.
