Lyonsdale, NY - A 14-year-old Oswego boy was injured Saturday after crashing an all-terrain vehicle into a tree in Lewis County, according to Lewis County sheriff's deputies.
The boy, whose name was not released, was riding a 2007 Arctic Cat DVX 250CC on the Powell State Forest access road off Boonville Road when the crash happened. Deputies say the boy lost control of the ATV, went off the left side of the road and struck a tree. He was thrown from the ATV. Deputies said the vehicle then overturned.
The boy suffered a broken right leg and a mild concussion, deputies said in a news release. He was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica.
State Forest Rangers assisted Lewis County sheriff's deputies at the scene. The sheriff's recreation enforcement patrol officer is investigating the accident.
