Syracuse, NY – A Syracuse man will serve prison time following his sentencing Tuesday in Onondaga County Court on felony weapon and drug possession charges.

Michael Mulkey, 26, of 100 Giminski St., Apt. 2, apologized to the court. Judge Anthony F. Aloi acknowledged that Mulkey, in a pre-sentence report, had taken full responsibility for his actions.

Aloi then sentenced Mulkey to four years in prison and three years of post-release supervision for the defendant’s guilty plea to second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The judge also sentenced Mulkey to a two-year term and two years of post release supervision on each of two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Those penalties are to be served concurrently with the gun possession sentence.

Mulkey also agreed to forfeit $1,132 that authorities seized when he was arrested on June 25. That is when police searched Mulkey’s apartment and found drugs, cash and a stolen Jennings .22-caliber semi-automatic pistol.

Mulkey pleaded guilty on Aug. 31. He had faced up to 15 years in prison, Assistant District Attorney Shawn M. Chase said.
