ALBANY, N.Y. — Authorities say a fire that burned for three days in an old Albany warehouse has started up again.
Fire Chief Robert Forezzi (for-EH’-zee) tells the Times Union of Albany that the fire has rekindled Tuesday inside the 11-story Central Warehouse. Forezzi blamed the wind for causing smoldering cork inside the former refrigeration facility to flare up.
He tells the newspaper that crews are pumping water into the upper floors of the 83-year-old structure, which has been vacant for about 20 years.
After the blaze started Friday afternoon, fire officials decided to let it burn itself out rather than send firefighters into a potentially dangerous situation. Officials declared the fire out on Monday.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
