DeWitt, NY -- Two people were arrested after a a state trooper on the Thruway spotted a suspicious vehicle behind a gas station on Thompson Road Friday afternoon.
As the trooper was investigating around 1:20 p.m., the driver ran off into nearby woods.
DeWitt police responded, found the man and took him into custody.
He turned out to be a man wanted in Wayne County on a probation violation, police said. The man, Jeremy L. Blankenberg, 32, of the John MIlton Inn in DeWitt, may face other charges, police said.
Blankenberg's girlfriend, Sarah J. Buffet, 29, was wanted as well, said police. Macedon police were looking for her for petit larceny, state police said.
U.S. Border Patrol, state parks police, Onondaga County sheriff's deputies, a state police helicopter and a state police K-9 unit also assisted in the case, police said.
