New Jersey car dealer Brad Benson made the pitch to Florida pastor Terry Jones in one of his quirky radio ads: If you don’t burn a Quran, I’ll give you a new car.
He was surprised, though, when a representative for Jones called to collect the 2011 Hyundai Accent, retailing for $14,200. “They said unless I was doing false advertising, they would like to arrange to pick up the car,” Benson recalled, who decided to honor his offer.
The story led several syracuse.com users to post their opinion, including this comment from badnews:
"There is good and bad in everything, including religion."Some People in America who teach the bible, also molest our children. Do we burn the bible? NO Do we burn churches? NO Why? ....Because NOT everyone who believes in the bible acts badly or causes harm to others.
"Just like not all people who read and believe in the Quran will blow up your home. ...
"However he made a threat. A threat he never made good on....never the less...a threat. And look he got rewarded for it.....with a brand new car!
"Only in AMERICA people...only in AMERICA."
