Syracuse, NY – A man sentenced to one-and-a-third to four years in prison and a $1,000 fine today for felony driving while intoxicated also got a warning from the judge.
“You’re piling up an awful history of DWI convictions,” Onondaga County Judge Joseph Fahey told Douglas Vandenburgh, 44, of Pennellville. Future felony convictions could make him a predicate felon eligible for a life sentence, Fahey said.
Vandenburgh's previous record includes one misdemeanor and two other felony convictions, all for driving while intoxicated, Assistant District Attorney Romana A. Lavalas said.
Vandenburgh was charged on Nov. 10 with driving while intoxicated on East Taft Road, Cicero, and pleaded guilty on July 2, Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Cali said.
