Mexico, NY – The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office this morning identified the motorcyclist injured Saturday in an accident in the town of Mexico as James R. Youngberg, 40, of 6485 state Route 3, Mexico.

Deputies said Youngberg’s Honda motorcycle passed a Suzuki motorcycle being driven Thomas E. Wallace, 55, of 45 Ontario St., Oswego, as they rounded a curve about 5:06 p.m. on county Route 16 at Clark Road. Both machines went out of control and hit a guard rail. Youngberg’s Honda continued into an earthen embankment and he was thrown, deputies said.

Youngberg was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital. He was not a patient there this morning, a nursing supervisor said.

Wallace was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood-alcohol level over 0.08 and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, all felonies, deputies said. He also was charged with crossing hazardous road markings and speed not reasonable and prudent. He was arraigned in Mexico town court and is to return to court on Sept. 7, deputies said.
