Don Miller, 44, of 8024 Ginger Road, Clay, will try to unseat Democrat Al Stirpe, who was first elected in 2006.

Miller will be running for office for the first time, but he has worked on campaigns for President Ronald Regan, Gov. George Pataki and county Legislature Bernie Kraft.

Miller works for a engineering firm in North Syracuse.
