Clay, NY – The remains of Sheena Morris will be exhumed today from a cemetery in Clay as her family seeks answers about how she died.
Mark Lazarski, director of cemeteries for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse, said Morris’ remains will be exhumed from Our Lady of Peace Cemetery under the supervision of a local funeral director and reburied later this week following an autopsy.
Morris was 22 when she was found hanged to death on New Year's Day 2009 in the bathroom of her hotel room in Bradenton Beach, Fla., hours after a reported quarrel with her fiance. Police ruled her death a suicide, but members of Morris’ family have said they believe clues in the hotel room are inconsistent with that finding.
Morris was raised in Central New York and moved in 2005 to Tampa, Fla., where her mother, Kelly Osborn, also lives. Her father, David Morris, resides in Clay.
