Auburn police ask for public's help in finding vandals

The vandals used spray paint, damaged many windows and ransacked an office.

2010-07-17nyseg.JPGAuburn police are looking for the person, or people, who vandalized a New York State Electric & Gas building on Bradley Street causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Auburn, NY—Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or people who broke into a New York State Electric & Gas building in Auburn causing thousands of dollars in damage.

Police were called to the secluded building at 37 Bradley St. at 9:23 a.m. Friday.

Here’s what police said happened.

A person, or several people, entered the fenced property and forced their way into the building that houses NYSEG equipment. The vandals used spray paint kept inside to paint the inside and outside of the building, causing several thousand dollars worth of damage.

They also damaged many windows and ransacked an office.

Police said they believe the damage was caused sometime over the last two days.

Anyone with information is asked to call lead investigator Det. Christopher McLoughlin at 255-4706, or the Auburn Police Department at 253-3231. The calls can remain anonymous.
