Syracuse, NY -- No residents were injured after fire struck a house on Syracuse's North Side this afternoon, said Fire Chief Mark McLees.
But a firefighter was treated for minor heat exhaustion, according to a radio broadcast at the scene.
The blaze at 229 Maplehurst Ave., near Assumption Cemetery, damaged the second floor and attic. At least one person is believed to have been inside at the time, but everyone made it out safely, McLees said.
Firefighters battled and flames and the heat during the 2:14 p.m. blaze. Firefighters were taking lots of breaks and drinking lots of water.
A recovery station was set up under some shade with a fan for the firefighters to recover before going back at the fire.
By 2:45 p.m., the flames appeared to be out, but the house continued smoking.
