Onondaga, NY -- Two residents escaped a fire in their town of Onondaga home this morning, fire officials said.Firefighters were called about 10:15 a.m. to 4897 Westview Drive, where they found one bedroom fully involved in flames, Taunton Fire Department Chief Jeff Rudiger said. No one was hurt in the fire but a firefighter was treated for minor heat exhaustion, Rudiger said.
Firefighters quickly got to the scene and contained the fire to the bedroom, Rudiger said. The rest of the house suffered smoke and water damage, he said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A section of Howlett Hill Road was closed during fire operations. Besides the Taunton Fire Department, firefighters from Howlett Hill, Taunton, Onondaga Hill and Fairmount fire departments responded to the scene.
