Ithaca, NY — A grand jury has indicted a 36-year-old man, his teenage son and a third man accused of attacking a stabbing victim inside an Upstate New York emergency room.
Johnny F. Lucena, his 18-year-old son Johnny J. Lucena and 21-year-old Timothy Daniels pleaded not guilty Monday to first-degree attempted assault charges at their arraignments in Tompkins County Court in Ithaca.
They’d been charged originally with lower-level assault for the May 14 brawl in the Cayuga Medical Center emergency room where another man was being treated for a stab wound suffered in an earlier fight with the elder Lucena.
Police say the men punched and kicked the stabbing victim. Authorities say the man fought back, as did his girlfriend, who swung a mop handle at one of the attackers.
