Steve Jobs is expected to make the announcement at WWDC.
Apple fans have hit the blogs and Twitter feeds hard this morning as they gear up for the big announcements to come from the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco this week.
On the top of their wishlist? The reveal of the new iPhone 4G.
A keynote address will come from Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs, at 10 a.m. PT. The company will not have a live video feed of the event, but you can follow technology sites such as Gizmodo or Wired for minute-to-minute updates. You can also follow CNN's tech Twitter feed, @cnntech.
Some tech bloggers may have potentially spoiled the surprise when it comes to the new iPhone, publishing details about a possible prototype that was misplaced by an Apple employee then sold to popular tech blog, Gizmodo.
According to Gizmodo, the iPhone prototype will have a front-facing camera, a camera flash and larger battery. It could be available as early as this summer.
If it is announced, the new iPhone will compete with an already increasing market of smartphones, including the Motorola Droid, Google Nexus One and Palm Pre.
According to CNET, during the first few months of 2010, phones running on Google’s Android operating system were more popular with consumers than the iPhone operating system.
BlackBerry is still the top-selling smartphone on the market, according to CNN.
