Mexico, NY - A Central Square woman was badly injured this morning after a two-vehicle crash on Markowitz Road in the Town of Mexico, according to Oswego County Sheriff's deputies.
Gabriella Briguglia, 20, of county Route 12, was pulling out of a driveway at 11:05 a.m. when her Hyundai Accent was struck on the driver's side by a westbound pickup truck, deputies said.
The pickup, a Dodge Dakota, was driven by Kevin Schwartzott, 42, of Kenyon Road, Mexico, deputies said. He and his passenger, Jon Schwartzott, 13, were not injured.
Briguglia was taken by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital. She was in serious condition Sunday night, a nursing supervisor said.
Mexico volunteer firefighters and sheriff's deputies responded to the scene. The rescue crews requested a helicopter to transport Briguglia, but the helicopter was unable to fly to the scene due to high winds, according to 911.
The crash remains under investigation. No tickets have been issued.
