Should the motive behind people suing companies be investigated?
After news broke that a Utah woman is suing Google over directions that she claims sent her walking down the center of a highway and subsequently getting hit by a car, syracuse.com users debated over whether the woman's interpretation of the directions was the real problem. Others questioned her motive to sue. Here's what syracuse.com user Pitapita had to say:
"I believe we need a form of Grand Jury for these Civil Lawsuits. Each Lawsuit would be presented to be evaluated to insure that there are legal grounds for the suit. If there is not, then the suit is thrown out. Our courts are clogged up with this type of cases where people just sue in the hopes that a company will setting out of court. But that still does not mean that the Courts do not have to spend money to process the paperwork etc, etc.
This would provide Corporations and Companies some relief from people who just want to "get rich quick" by a lawsuit where there is no Law that was broken, such as this case."
