A prosthetic leg thought to belong to a missing 10-year-old girl has been found in brush off a road in North Carolina. Police have been searching for Zahra Baker since Oct. 9, and her disappearance is being investigated as a homicide. Investigators are searching the home where she lived with her father and stepmother, and are digging in the yard with a backhoe.
Zahra's stepmother, Elisa Baker, admitted last week that she planted a fake ransom note the day after Zahra's disappearance was reported, police said. Earlier this week, a mattress that was believed to belong to the girl was found at a landfill.
Zahra lost her leg to bone cancer.
