Onondaga County voters eager to cut the size of government will get their chance with a swipe of the pencil Tuesday. A referendum on the election ballot asks voters if the county Legislature should be reduced from 19 to 17 members.

"Eliminating the two legislators will save the county $51,812 out of a $1.12 billion budget. You'll see your taxes go down 0.005% (don't spent it all in one place). This has nothing to do with costs, and everything to do with a party in power looking to redraw district lines to entrench themselves. Less representation in government is rarely a good thing for the citizenry..."
