Investigators working to determine cause of crash.
State police investigate a fatal motorcycle crash at Route 48 and Daisy Drive in Van Buren. Van Buren, NY -- State police are investigating a fatal accident between a motorcycle and a minivan on Route 48 at Daisy Drive, Van Buren.
The motorcycle operator was killed, Trooper Jeffrey M. Cicora said. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital. Cicora declined to release his name.
The driver of the minivan, identified as Sonya M. Phillips, 26, of 580 Rosewood Road, Van Buren, was uninjured, said Sgt. James Moynihan. She was driving a Plymouth Voyager minivan, Cicora said.
The accident occurred shortly before 7:16 a.m., Cicora said. Investigators still were trying to determine the cause and details such as which direction the vehicles were traveling, he said.
Authorities blocked Route 48 at Farrell Road and redirected traffic around the accident scene as the investigation continued. The intersection remained roped off with yellow police tape and a motorcycle could be seen, lying on its side on the pavement.
