Manlius Village Mayor Mark-Paul Serafin has been charged a second time by town of Manlius police with taking returnables from a resident’s blue bin, a violation of the village’s recycling regulations. Additionally, the mayor was named as a suspect in a police report detailing a Sept. 30 theft of sausage from the Manlius Fire Department.
The story drew dozens of comments, many from people who criticized or ridiculed Serafin. Those comments brought this one from syracuse.com user manlius:
"Isn't there enough meanness and bullying in the world? What would drive people in Manlius to be this unkind? Are you the same people who try to instill good values in your children? How do you reconcile that with being this cruel to someone who has chosen a public service job? Do you really think this man is motivated to rob people of their food or belongings?"Doesn't it seem more likely that there is a community fridge or bowls of fruit that are intended for all, which may occasionally be confused with something earmarked for a particular occasion but bullies in that setting trying to isolate and embarrass this man-are now claiming that the community food is intended for all but him--thus the unkind nasty finger pointing that says a whole lot more about those pointing than it does about the Mayor.
"And do you who are so mean go to house of prayer on weekends and talk about being a better person? Now may be a good time to start."
