Kirkland, NY -- An Oneida County man was arrested Tuesday, charged with trying to deposit counterfeit money into a credit union account.
Kirkland police were called to Access Federal Credit union at 8:15 a.m. by a teller who said a man at the drive-through was trying to deposit counterfeit money.
Police arrested John P. Hughes, 46, of state Route 12B, in Deansboro, and charged him with forgery in the first degree. He was arraigned and sent to Oneida County jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
The U.S. Secret Service was called in to investigate the case.
