Attorney General calls incumbent Sen. David Valesky and Assemblyman Bill Magee 'reformers.'
Cazenovia, NY -- New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo made a case for incumbents at a campaign stop in Cazenovia Friday afternoon.
The Democratic gubernatorial hopeful issued a rousing endorsement for U.S. Rep. Bill Owen, D-Plattsburgh, in his reelection bid for the 23rd Congressional District seat against Republican Matt Doheny. The district includes Madison and Oswego counties and part of Oneida county.
“New York needs help from this federal administration,” Cuomo told a crowd of 200 supports who rallied at the Lincklaen House for the midafternoon campaign stop. “I need Bill to help me do that.”
Cuomo also expressed strong support for state Sen. David Valesky (D-Oneida) and Assemblyman Bill Magee (D-Nelson), who will both face opposition at the polls Nov. 2.
“They are reformers,” he said. “They get it and they have always gotten it. They fought the status quo. And we need them in Albany desperately.”
If elected, Cuomo said his administration’s first task would be to implement a “fiscal diet” for Albany.
“The state government has to learn the same lesson that every family, every business has learned in this crisis,” he said. “The government needs to live within its means. And the answer is not new taxes.”
Just 10 days from the general election, Cuomo expressed confidence but warned supporters not to become complacent.
“Fear and anger are a very powerful motivator,” he said. “We have to make sure the voice of reason gets to the polls too.”
