Cicero, NY -- A Syracuse woman stopped by loss prevention staff on suspicion of shoplifting Saturday outside the Burlington Coat Factory store, Cicero, used a pepper spray to try to evade arrest, Onondaga County sheriff’s deputies said.
Instead of getting away, the woman, a 17-year-old and three children who were with her at the time were all arrested.
Tonya R. Chambers, 41, and Dewanique T. Chambers, 17, both of 115 Clarence Ave., were charged with robbery, a felony, and unlawful possession of a noxious material, a misdemeanor.
During the confrontation with loss prevention staff, Tonya and Dewanique Chambers were accompanied by three girls, who are 12, 13 and 16 years old, deputies said. The 16-year-old was charged with robbery and unlawful possession of a noxious material and will answer the charges in Cicero Town Court.
