'If it's worth its salt, any art will succeed with private funding.'
The Onondaga County Legislature's Ways & Means Committee has recommended deep cuts in county funding to many local arts and cultural groups. Here's what syracuse.com user schanke has to say:
"As a lifelong musician and patron of the arts, I believe all public funding for the arts should be eliminated. If it's worth its salt, any art will succeed with private funding. I think it's ridiculous that artists that are long on enthusiasm and short on talent would receive one penny of taxpayer money to support them. Cut taxes, let people keep more of their own money to spend themselves on going to see shows, plays, the symphony, etc., instead of filtering it through expensive layers of gov't bureaucracy that only end up handing out a fraction of what was taken in the first place."» See what else schanke has to say on syracuse.com
