Syracuse, NY -- Three people went to the hospital after a car ran a red light on Erie Boulevard East this afternoon and struck two other cars, including an undercover police car, Syracuse police said.
The crash took place about 12:30 p.m. at South Townsend Street and Erie Boulevard East. A 1988 red Pontiac and the undercover car were traveling south on Townsend with the green light when a a 2004 Kia ran the red light and crashed into them, police said.
The operator of the Kia was identified by police as Neer Modgil, 43, of DeWitt. Modgil was ticketed for passing a red light. She complained of neck pain and was taken to Upstate University Hospital.
The operator of the Pontiac was identified by police as Robin Kearse, of Tallman Street. Police said that Kearse and the two children in her car, ages 1 and 4 years old, were uninjured but were taken to Upstate University Hospital as a precaution, police said.
Kearse was operating her car without a valid license, police said. She was ticketed for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and for not having child restraints for the four-year-old child.
The police officer was identified as Sgt. Al Wilson, who was not injured, police said.
