Liverpool, Central Square and Oswego round out the class
New Hartford, NY -- Victor High School in Ontario County won the National class at the field band competition Saturday at New Hartford High School.Victor tallied 91.1 points. Second place was Cicero-North Syracuse with 87.3, followed by Liverpool with 86.85, Central Square with 82.65 and Oswego with 81.05.
At other competitions with Central New York bands, East Syracuse Minoa High School’s band placed first in visual performance, best music and best overall effect at the United States Scholastic Band Association competition Saturday in Dartmouth, Mass. There were four bands in ESM’s class for competition.
At the Bands of America regional contest in the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan, West Genesee performed in the preliminaries and did not place in the top 10 out of 20 bands to make the finals Saturday night. The Wildcats competed against high schools from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Iowa in the preliminaries.
The band from Baker High School in Baldwinsville will compete in the Large School 2 class at the Arlington field band show today.
The bands from Phoenix, Auburn and Jordan-Elbridge are off this weekend.
