Utica, NY -- Firefighters responding to a fire inside a Utica home this morning found an 85-year-old woman dead inside, Utica police said.
Firefighters were called at 11 a.m. to 1609 Girard St., where there was a fire in the kitchen, police said. Police did not identify the woman.
Firefighters are still on the scene at this hour and the investigation into the woman's death is continuing. Early news reports said there was an explosion inside the woman's home but Utica police said there was no explosion.
