Syracuse, NY -- The armed robbery of a Syracuse University student in the 300 block of Comstock Avenue Thursday prompted the university to email a public safety notice to students and staff Friday.
Syracuse police gave this account of the robbery:
SU student Paul Agrapidis said he was robbed by a man named “Adonis,” who he had met earlier in the day. Agrapidis said he heard a man selling an iPod earlier in the day in the 600 block of Comstock Avenue. The man identified himself as Adonis and said he would sell Agrapidis the iPod if he was interested and the two exchanged phone numbers.
Agrapidis said he later called the man he knew as Adonis, who claimed to be an SU student. The two agreed to meet around 5:50 p.m. in the 300 block of Comstock Ave. for the sale. When the two met on the sidewalk, Agrapidis pulled out his wallet and the man pulled out a pocket knife in a threatening manner.
The man took the cash from the wallet and threw the wallet on the ground. Agrapidis said he had $500 in the wallet.
The man then ran north with the student’s money.
Agrapidis was not harmed, according to the email.
Syracuse University Department of Public Safety asked for help in identifying the suspect. He is described as a tall, thin, black male in his early 20s. He stands about 5 feet 11 inches and was wearing a red Phillies baseball cap backwards on his head. He also was wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and blue jeans. The man had two small tattoos on each side of his face under the corners of his eyes. One tattoo appeared to be a lightning bolt. He also had a diamond stud nose ring.
