Syracuse, NY -- Construction delays mean that the Erie Boulevard bridge over West Street Arterial will remain closed another month and a half, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The bridge on the west side of downtown was scheduled to reopen Friday, but was pushed back to Nov. 15 for two reasons, said spokesman Gene Cilento.
The start of the project was delayed by the building collapse along Interstate 81 that closed northbound I-81 for several weeks this spring. The DOT did not want to shut down two major arteries to downtown at the same time, Cilento said.
Utility work also took longer than expected, he said.
