Hannibal, NY -- A 69-year-old man, accused of sexually abusing a child for 10 years, was released by a town justice after being arrested on two felonies, according to Oswego County Sheriff's deputies.
Gerald D. Wells Sr., of 305 Peat Bed Road, Hannibal, NY, was charged Friday with felony sexual conduct against a child and course of criminal sex act, which alleges he committed the crime repeatedly during a period of time.
The abuse began in the summer of 2001, when the victim was younger than 13 years old, and ended this summer, deputies said. Wells was also charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a misdemeanor.
He is accused of engaging in oral sex with the victim, among other sexual contact, deputies said.
Wells was arraigned in Hannibal Town Court and released on his own recognizance. His next court appearance is Oct. 26.
