Cayuga, NY -- Residents and business in the Village of Cayuga and those on Route 90 north of the village in Aurelius have been told to boil their water until further notice as crews repair a water main break discovered this morning.
A break in a central water main which drained the water tank was discovered at about 8 a.m., said Kent Walter, the water district manager. Crews are currently working to repair the break.
In the meantime, residents are being told to boil water at least for a minute for cooking, brushing their teeth, drinking, making ice, and washing dishes.
Walter said he expects the advisory to remain in effect for a week to allow for the repairs and water testing by the Cayuga County Health Department.
