Sewer work to affect Syracuse travel and parking

Syracuse, NY -- Sewer work planned for Montgomery Street in Syracuse will affect traffic and parking in that area for several weeks. Syracuse, NY -- Sewer work planned for Montgomery Street in Syracuse will affect traffic and parking in that area for several weeks.

The city will replace the sewer in the 300 block of Montgomery Street and in the intersection of East Fayette and Montgomery Streets. The work begins at 7 a.m. Monday.

The project is expected to take several weeks to complete, and will include street closings and parking restrictions.

The Montgomery Street-East Fayette Street intersection will be closed to all traffic during the first week of construction. It will reopen for the second part of the project.

Montgomery Street from East Washington Street to East Jefferson Street will be closed to through traffic. It will be open to local traffic as construction permits.

The sidewalks on Montgomery Street and East Fayette Street will remain open to pedestrians.

Parking on Montgomery Street will be closed. The Murbro lots on the east and west side of Montgomery Street between East Washington and East Fayette Streets will remain open. The city parking garage on the corner of East Fayette and Montgomery Street will remain open.
