Update: Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies were only called once Thursday night on a report of shots fired at the Onondaga Lake Townhomes in Salina.
Deputies were first called to a shots fired complaint at the homes on Old Liverpool Road at 10:45 p.m.
Although the county's computer-aided dispatch shows a second 911 call for shots fired at the same address at 2:36 a.m., a little more than three hours later, deputies were not called to the scene, said Sgt. John D'Eredita.
The county's 911 Commissioner William Bleyle said this afternoon it's likely a computer glitch caused the report to show up twice, and he is looking into the issue.
Earlier: Salina, NY -- Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputies were called out this morning for a report of shots fired at the Onondaga Lake Townhomes in Salina, the second such complaint reported there in a little more than three hours.
It’s not known if the report of shots fired reported at the Onondaga County 911 Center at 2:36 a.m. is connected to an earlier investigation of shots fired at the homes at 151 Old Liverpool Road.
Deputies continue to look for two men involved in the earlier dispute that led to a series of gunshots fired reported at about 10:45 p.m. No was reported injured in the shooting.
Deputies said there was no indication the incident was related to shootings earlier in the day in Clay and Oswego County.
Here’s what happened last night.
Ten police cars lined the road and yellow police tape marked out a large square that included the driveway to the complex and the first apartment building on the left side of the driveway.
For the better part of an hour, a helicopter circled overhead, shining its bright light on the ground below. Shortly before midnight, the helicopter left the area.
Uniformed deputies put down five or six evidence markers, the type often used to show where a shell casing was found, along the walkway to the first apartment.
Across the street from the scene of the shooting, a deputy and police dog could be seen searching the grounds of The Hearth at Greenpoint, a senior living complex.
