Syracuse, NY – A 17-year-old Syracuse resident shot and critically wounded Sunday is in stable condition and expected to recover, police said.

Tymauri Mobley, 17, and his brother, Darrell Mobley, 18, had just left their cousin’s apartment at 1809 E. Fayette St. shortly after 1 a.m. when a man standing at East Fayette and Westcott streets fired on them with a handgun, Darrell Mobley told police.

A bullet struck Tymauri Mobley in the upper right abdomen and exited his lower left side, according to a police report. He underwent surgery early Sunday at Upstate University Hospital. He was in stable condition this afternoon, Sgt. Gary Bulinski said.

The assailant, a man about 5 feet 9 inches tall wearing dark blue jeans and a red hooded sweatshirt, was last seen fleeing west on East Fayette Street, police said.

Investigators found six shell casings on the sidewalk near 1809 E. Fayette, the report said.

Bulinski asked people with information to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 442-5222.
