Lisa M. Parker served 2 years of her 1- to 3-year sentence.
A Weedsport woman who was imprisoned for causing a fiery car crash that killed her three children in June 2007 is free again, a state prison official confirmed today.
Lisa M. Parker, 32, was released on Tuesday from Albion Correctional Facility in Orleans County after serving two years of her one- to three-year prison sentence, said Linda Foglia, a spokeswoman at the state Department of Correctional Services.
By law Parker had to be released because she served two-thirds of her sentence without any disciplinary or other problems, Foglia said. Parker will be under state parole supervision until Sept. 7, 2011.
The fatal crash happened three years ago when Parker, who was on her way to a camping trip, tried to flee an arresting sheriff’s deputy in Jefferson County. She had been stopped for erratic driving on Route 12E in Three Mile Bay, about 12 miles north of Watertown.
Parker took off and hit 85 mph before slamming into a telephone pole causing her 1994 Honda Accord to burst into flames. Her three children, ages 2, 6 and 10, died in the fire.
She was convicted in 2008 of three felony counts of second-degree manslaughter and three counts of fleeing a police officer after accepting a plea bargain without admitting any guilt. Instead she acknowledged there was enough evidence to convict her but said she could not remember what happened because she said she suffered from amnesia, according to news reports.
Her prison sentence started in September 2008.
Parker has returned to Cayuga County, according to a state parole department official, and must follow several parole stipulations for the next year.
Among them, according to parole department spokeswoman Carole Weaver, Parker must seek and maintain employment, not drink or go to bars, not drive a car and undergo counseling for aggressive behavior.
