Syracuse, NY - Syracuse police said a motorist apparently had the green light when her vehicle struck a bicyclist at the intersection of Burnet Avenue and Thompson Road Monday afternoon.

The bicyclist, 44-year-old Michael Wallingford of Syracuse, sustained serious, but not life-threatening injuries in the crash that occurred about 4:40 p.m., according to Syracuse police Sgt. Gary Bulinski.

Bulinski said Wallingford was riding his bicycle east on Burnet Avenue when he was struck by a 2007 PT Cruiser operated by Sharon White, 48, of Schenectady. White was driving south on Thompson Road at the time of the crash,

Police said White, who was not injured, appeared to have had the green light and no tickets have been issued at this time. The crash, however, remains under investigation.

Wallingford was transported to Upstate University Hospital. His condition could not be determined early this morning.
