Syracuse Symphony Orchestra is losing one of its executives in October. Nicki Inman, vice president of patron development, has accepted a similar position at the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.
Inman’s departure comes at a time the SSO is struggling to remain operational. The orchestra was on the verge of closing in July because it was without funds. An “angel investor” stepped in and is funding daily expenses.
Inman and four senior staffers have been overseeing the orchestra’s operation. The SSO is without an executive director after the resignation of Karen Gahl-Mills earlier this year. She has been with the orchestra for 10 years.
The Memphis Symphony Orchestra has a $4 million dollar budget, 36 core musicians and 36 expanded players. The SSO operates with a $7.4 million budget and 63 core musicians and 14 contract players.
Inman said her new assignment offers her the opportunity to build a fund-raising, patron-development program from the ground up.
