Oneida, NY -- Official identification of a man who died in a crash off the side of Oxbow Road in the town of Fenner will have to wait until Friday morning at the earliest, the Madison County sheriff's office said.
"We believe we know who it is, but we need forensic evidence to identify him," Undersheriff Doug Bailey said this afternoon.
The sheriff's office is waiting on the Onondaga County Medical Examiner to complete its identification on the body.
The car caught fire after the accident and the victim's remains burned beyond recognition, officials initially said.
