Thieves broke into Syracuse's Second Olivet Missionary Baptist church property again Monday night, this time smashing a window and entering the church's annex, said the Rev. Aaron M. James Sr.
This comes after vandals entered the church's offices on West Onondaga Street at least five times since Thursday. They also tried to enter the church by throwing a brick through a window, James said.
Then around 11 a.m. Tuesday, the coordinator of a youth program noticed the thefts from the annex. The thieves had broken a window and climbed through. Stolen were a PlayStation and games, a karaoke machine, snacks and toiletries including toothbrushes, soap and deodorant, said Kimber Gunn, coordinator of Contact Community Services Way to Go program.
"Oddly, they didn't take any of the school supplies," Gunn said. Thieves also left the computers and a television.
They didn't vandalize the annex, either. Thieves at the office building ripped out walls and ceilings to steal copper pipe.
Syracuse police are investigating. The church is also considering several additional security measures at its properties, James said.
