Auburn police said Wednesday that two 15-year-olds and their parents
came to police headquarters to discuss the investigation into an arson at the Genesee Elementary School playground in July.
Authorities responded July 18 to a fire in the playground's mulch, said police Lt. Shawn Butler. The fire had already damaged a piece of playground equipment. Damage to a plastic crawl-through tube was assessed at $3,700, Butler said.
The two 15-year-olds were identified as the persons in a school surveillance video, Butler said Wednesday. Auburn police said they would release no further information on the two because of their age. The investigation is continuing.
