A 15-year-old is charged with murder and attempted murder in shooting of two men.
Syracuse, NY - A Syracuse teenager has been charged with murder and attempted murder in the shooting of two men outside a South Geddes Street gas station early Saturday morning.
Jesus Carmona, 15, is charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Luis Quinonez-Osorio. He's charged with attempted second-degree murder in the shooting of Yojan Ceballos.
Court papers indicate Carmona is one of two gunmen involved in the shooting that took place about 1:45 a.m. Saturday outside Kelly's Mobil at 631 S. Geddes St.
According to court papers, Carmona told police he had a problem with Ceballos and his friend had a problem with Quinonez-Osorio. He told police they decided to take care of their problems together when they learned that the two victims were at the gas station.
Quinonez-Osorio and Ceballas were walking to Quinonez's vehicle in the parking lot when Carmona and the second suspect ran toward them with guns in their hands and opened fire, the court papers indicate.
Quinonez-Osorio was shot in the left side of the head, the left side of the neck and the torso. He died from his injuries.
Ceballos was shot in the back but survived.
According to the court papers, police recovered four 9 mm cartridge casings and seven .45-caliber cartridge casings at the scene.
Carmona was arraigned Tuesday afternoon before City Judge Kate Rosenthal and ordered held in custody without bail. He's being held at the Hillbrook Detention Facility because of his age.
Rosenthal assigned lawyer Marsha Hunt to represent Carmona and adjourned the case to Monday for a preliminary hearing.
