Suspect also is under investigation for robbery at a DeWitt hotel
Weedsport, NY -- A Rochester man is in custody following an armed robbery Tuesday at a Weedsport hotel, state police said.
Ronald J. Larkin, 44, of 133 Roslyn St., Rochester, was charged with first-degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon in the Weedsport robbery. Larkin also is under investigation in a robbery that occurred earlier Tuesday at a DeWitt hotel, troopers said.
Larkin entered the Best Western hotel on Erie Street in the village of Weedsport and, after a brief discussion with an employee, pulled a handgun on the employee and demanded money, troopers said.
After receiving cash, Larkin fled the hotel, state police said. He was stopped a short time later as he was headed westbound on the Thruway a trooper who realized the car and driver matched the description of the robbery suspect, state police said.
DeWitt police are investigating whether Larkin is tied to a robbery about 12:30 p.m. at Ramada Limited hotel on Thompson Road, troopers said. DeWitt police said they had no information available on the Thompson Road robbery Tuesday evening.
