Syracuse, NY -- Construction workers are scrambling to finish structural work on the Butternut Street Bridge over Interstate 81 before a planned 2:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday in Syracuse.
The bridge still needs some joint work and cosmetic touches before the ceremony to announce completion of the $17 million project, which also included rebuilding the Spencer and Court street overpasses, said Gene Cilento, state Department of Transportation spokesman.
While the bridge is scheduled to reopen Wednesday, work will continue for several more weeks, Cilento said.
