Two entities are vying to conduct the search for a new Syracuse school superintendent, school board President Richard Strong said Monday.
They are the firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates , based in Illinois, and a partnership that includes Say Yes to Education, he said. Say Yes is a national nonprofit foundation working with the school district to improve the city schools.
The school board solicited proposals to find a firm to conduct the search and received two responses, Strong said. He declined to discuss details of the proposals. He said the board wants to hire a search firm no later than its Sept. 15 meeting. The search firm or partnership’s primary job would be to find superintendent candidates. The authority to hire a superintendent lies with the school board.
