If there was a silver lining today for Shakespeare in the Park, it was that the cast party could start early.

The final performance of the season, which was supposed to start at 2 p.m., was a washout. The deluge meant the show could not go on in the amphitheater at Thornden Park, but the cast still held the party at the park’s carriage house.

The National Weather Service at Binghamton issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Madison, Onondaga, Oneida and east central Cayuga counties until 5:30 p.m. today.

The weather service is expecting 2 to 3 inches of rainfall, which it says is enough to cause minor flooding, especially from water pooling on roads and in poorly drained areas. The runoff from the heavy rain will elevate the water level in small creeks and streams, according to the weather service.

The heavy rain will diminish by early evening, the weather service says.
