Syracuse, NY--Police accused a Syracuse man Friday of using a BB gun to shoot a police car.
At about 2:56 a.m. Friday, an officer was driving a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria in the 900 block of Tallman Street when he heard a "sharp report and a loud ping" on the right side of the vehicle.
The officer got out of his car where he saw a dent and chipped paint on the car. He then heard what sounded like a person moving southbound from the bushes at 901 Tallman St.
Heading south on foot on Palmer Avenue, the officer found a man lying on top of a BB gun on top of a brush pile across from 118 Palmer Ave. That's where the officer took Marquis J. West, 20, of 139 Palmer Ave., Syracuse, into custody.
Police charged West with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and criminal possession of a weapon, all misdemeanors.
