Syracuse, NY - A Skaneateles car dealer has been indicted in connection with a series of alleged thefts from customers.

Pat J. Bombard, 54, of 39 Heritage Woods, Skaneateles, was indicted Wednesday on six counts of second-degree grand larceny and first-degree identity theft and two counts each of third-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud.

The second-degree grand larceny charge accuses Bombard of stealing more than $50,000 from Irma Jerva Dec. 18, 2008. The indictment does not spell out how that theft occurred.

The identity theft charge accuses Bombard of using Jane and John King’s identities on a car loan application Oct. 31, 2007, in order to obtain an $18,000 loan.

One of the third-degree grand larceny counts and a scheme to defraud charge accuses Bombard of helping Gary Crawford obtain a car loan through Wachovia Bank that was supposed to be used to pay off a GMAC loan on a vehicle Crawford was trading in. But Bombard is accused of stealing the $13,000 in June 2009 by keeping it for his personal use.

The other third-degree grand larceny count and the other scheme to defraud charge accuses Bombard of stealing $16,000 in July 2009 in a similar scheme involving customer Ronald Kelly and a Wachovia loan.

Bombard could face up to 15 years in state prison if convicted of the second-degree grand larceny charge. The identity theft and third-degree grand larceny charges each carry a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.

Bombard, owner of Bombard Chevrolet in Skaneateles, was arrested at the Route 20 dealership in March after one of the incidents was reported to state police.
