Hamilton, NY – A house that the village of Hamilton Fire Department had used for training exercises was destroyed by fire late Wednesday.
The blaze at the vacant wood-frame house on Route 12 B outside the village was reported about 11:20 p.m. The structure was totally involved in flame when firefighters arrived, said Assistant Fire Chief Richard Holcombe. It took about an hour to extinguish the blaze.
“It was a total loss,” Holcombe said. Officials were not sure how it started, he said.
The fire department used the house for rescue training but had not been in there for three months, Holcombe said.
