Marathon, NY – A man whose body was found Wednesday in the Tioughnioga River in this Cortland County village died from accidental drowning, state police said.
The body of Peter E. Radclff, 53, of 6 Warren St., Marathon, was spotted in the river south of the Main Street bridge about 10:15 a.m., state police said.
Radcliff had last been seen alive in the area about 2 a.m., troopers said. There was no sign of foul play, they said.
County Coroner Kevin Sharp ordered Radcliff’s body to be taken to Lourdes Hospital. There, an autopsy performed by Dr. Zarina Hernandez-Shipplick determined that Radcliff drowned accidentally, troopers said.
